Collection History

Currently the EMOHA Project collection has 72 interviews with more being added all the time. The interviews in this collection are the result of the ongoing work of the EMOHA project and comprise of recordings made since March 2001. The interviews have been conducted by the staff of the EMOHA project and other individuals under the direction of project staff. Among the new interviews are a number carried out for the recent "Toys and Games" CD and workbook produced by the EMOHA. Copies of the CD are still available at 7.00 plus postage and packing from the EMOHA office.

What the Collection Contains

The interviews in this collection cover a wide range of themes and topics relating to residence of Leicester and Leicestershire in the 20th and 21st centuries. Subjects include memories of childhood toys and the games played, the experience of being a youth in 1950s and 1960s Leicester, the different experiences of migrants to Leicester from diverse parts of the globe, and the many experiences of the world of work. Recollections of varied wartime experience also feature in the collection, with new topics appearing constantly.
