Brief Biography

I joined the School of Management in August 2002, after having taught and researched at Keele University, the University of Warwick and the University of Otago.

For the academic year 2008-2009 I am on leave from the University of Leicester and am Visiting Professor in the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy at Copenhagen Business School.

Research Interests

My book Unmasking the Entrepreneur, co-authored with André Spicer, is in press and will be published by Edward Elgar towards the end of 2009. I am currently editing a special issue of Business Ethics: A European Review on the relation 'Derrida, Business, Ethics', and a special issue of Organization on 'Jacques Lacan and Organization Studies'. These will both appear in early 2010.

I am currently preparing for my next project, which is a study of the subjective forms of economic life. This involves accounting for the persistence of homo œconomicus after the critique of the subject, and involves accounts of, inter alia, the individualisation of responsibility for actions such as recycling, the question of how to not sell one's soul, and the peculiar tendency today to attribute to the market supposedly subjective characteristics such as intentionality and speech.
