Leon Hunt
Senior Supervisor
Leon came to ULAS in 2003 after working as Assistant Supervisor with The Trent and Peak Archaeological Unit for several years, having studied Archaeology at The University of Nottingham as a mature student.
His early archaeological experience included taking part in the Crickley Hill Iron Age hillfort excavations with Dr Philip Dixon. At T.P.A.U. he worked extensively on quarry based Iron Age and Romano-British sites and attended many watching briefs. Additionally, he worked closely with undergraduate and certificate students as a Tutor in Practical Archaeology at The School of Continuing Education, University Of Nottingham.
Since becoming Senior Supervisor at ULAS Leon has expanded his archaeological experience considerably to include watching briefs, evaluations and excavations. He recently directed the excavations at Rothley Lodge Farm, which yielded Neolithic remains of regional and national importance including a carved stone plaque; the first example of Neolithic figurative art discovered for over a century.
In recent months Leon has concentrated on report writing, particularly desk-based assessments.
