Deborah Sawday BA,member of the Medieval Pottery Research Group

Medieval pottery consultant, Medieval/Post-medieval ceramics and building materials

Debbie was a Field Officer with the Leicestershire Archaeological Unit where she worked on both rural and urban sites in various roles including the writing and editing of an archaeological newsletter and on exhibitions and publicity, including ‘Spotlights’ and ‘Peep-Hole to the Past’ about the Shires excavations in Leicester. Debbie has over 30 years’ experience in the analysis of Post Roman pottery of the East Midlands. She has taught for many years on the University Extra-Mural Advanced Certificate in Archaeology and produced numerous reports on post-Roman pottery and tile, her more recent publications include - in 1999 Causeway Lane, Leicester, and in 2002 – Lutterworth, Anstey, and St. Nicholas Place, Leicester, and she has recently completed reports of the Highcross, Leicester project, the largest excavations to date in the city. Debbie has established the ULAS type series for Leicestershire and has reported on material from Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Cambridgeshire using the relevant County Fabric Series.
