Entry Requirements

A/AS Levels: Three A-levels are normally required. Two AS levels may be considered in place of one A-level. General Studies accepted. Standard offer ABB.

GCSE: Mathematics and English Language at grade C. For BA Management and Economics grade B GCSE Mathematics required.

Access to HE Diploma: Pass relevant diploma with some credits distinction.

European Baccalaureate: Pass with 70% overall.

International Baccalaureate: Pass Diploma with 32 points.

Cambridge Pre-U: For single honours D3/M2/M2 in Principal Subjects.

BTEC Nationals: Full Diploma with DDM, plus any subject/GCSE requirements.

Other Qualifications: Other national and international qualifications welcomed.

Mature students welcomed: Alternative qualifications considered.

Second Year Entry: Possible for those with advanced qualifications compatible with our degree structure.

Applicants are not normally interviewed. All applicants receiving an offer will be invited to visit the School of Management.

These degrees are not available on a part-time basis.

Management Studies at Leicester

The School of Management at Leicester consists of a community of scholars dedicated to the development of critical management studies. We conduct and disseminate internationally recognised research and scholarship that increases the understanding and knowledge of the role of management and organisation in the contemporary world. Our research informs our teaching, and we endeavour to provide educational experiences that are revelatory and inspirational for student and teacher alike, and to give each programme member the capacity to develop their intellectual abilities to the full in a supportive, inclusive and diverse atmosphere.

Our programmes are designed to provide you with a wealth of learning experiences and a qualification that will serve you well in your life and career for many years after graduation. The course content and assessment recognise the essential need for the provision of modules that provide opportunities for critical, inter-disciplinary, geographically and culturally comparative, and historical engagements with management expertise. In this way they draw on the particular strengths of Leicester’s School of Management and the recognition that management expertise is complex and ever-changing.

Teaching, Learning and Assessment

We use a variety of teaching methods with the aim of creating a stimulating environment in which you are encouraged to develop your learning skills and to actively participate in the learning process. These include: formal lectures, seminars and group work, which are all reinforced by your own research. Assessment varies between modules with some being a mixture of coursework and examination.

Skills Gained

During our degrees you will learn to critically analyse and evaluate events and issues arising from the complex and changing organisational environment in which today’s managers work.

You will also gain transferable skills in problem-solving, written and oral communication, advanced quantitative methods and statistical analysis and the use of information technology.
