Dissemination
- There will be a open SEAL web site, blog and wiki from day 1 maintained, for at least 2 years following the project completion
- In-world and in Real Life (RL) poster sessions at conferences
- Demonstrations using the Media Zoo at the University of Leicester, which is a physical and virtual space enabling lecturers to try out outcomes from research and learning technologies in safe, fun and supportive environments (www.le.ac.uk/beyonddistance/mediazoo)
- Workshops at ALT-C Sept 2007 & 2008, Online Educa Berlin 2007 & 2008, and other key conferences as appropriate by the SEAL team.
- Exposure during keynote speeches by Professor Salmon in 2007 and 2008.
- Introductory or advanced level tutorials for educators interested in using SL for student events from both Leicester, Northampton and associates and through the CULN (20 FE colleges) network at Leicester
- Events that 'blend' reality, enabling participants to experience SL and RL environments and the characteristics and affordances of each as demonstrations to organisations and conferences tackling issues of imagining the future for education, and the change processes necessary to achieve great outcomes for student learning and enable educators to prepare to use Second Life events within student courses.
- Case studies will be published on the SEAL blog based on each of the SL events.
- Inclusion in forthcoming 'Learning Futures' book and series by Gilly Salmon (Routledge from 2008). The new 'Learning Futures' book will publish authentic voices from the SEAL project and the Second Life Learning Futures Academy events. Gilly Salmon's books are Routledge 'Best Sellers' and reach a wide audience in the UK and beyond.
