I co-ordinate the distance MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL in the School of Education at Leicester University. I am currently leading the online development of this programme.
I also work on our campus MA programme as well as supervising PhD and EdD students in fields related to my research interests. These include intercultural business communication, ESP, phonology, English as a Lingua Franca, CALL and E-Learning.
I have worked in TESOL for over twenty years and have taught EFL, EAP and particularly ESP in Europe, West Africa and Hong Kong. I was a lecturer in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at City University of Hong Kong from 1990 to 1994. I have an MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT from the University of York and a doctorate in Applied Linguistics from the University of Birmingham (researching intercultural business meetings in Hong Kong).
