The University of Leicester holds an open day at the site. Nearly 2,000 people attend, eager to learn about the excavation. Queues extend around the block.

A press conference at Leicester Guildhall announces to the world media the discovery of the skeleton. The press are then invited to visit the site and view the grave.
The vulnerable archaeology is covered with a geo-permeable membrane and hand-covered with soil to protect it before the trenches are backfilled using a digger. Greyfriars is once again a car park and a disused school playground.
