Managing Research Finances
Managing Research Finances was a key issue identified by PIs in both the Research Leaders' survey and the PI focus groups. Issues of concern included:
- The implications of Full Economic Costing
- Virement between budget headings
- Day-to-day management of budgets
Due to the large variations in which these and other finance issues are handled by different research funders and higher education institutions, we have not yet developed resources to support this area. There are however a number of case studies and scenarios which PIs have contributed which address the issues related to the management of research finances.
This is an area we hope to develop in the future. We recommend that PIs seek guidance from their research funder, institution or experienced colleagues regarding specific finance issues.
