No 7
The University of Leicester has recently
appointed Christine Fyfe to the post of University Librarian.
Ms Fyfe came to Leicester from the
University of Warwick, where she was Deputy Librarian, and took up her new post
in October 2002.
She is currently Chair of the UK Serials
Group and is a member of the Executive Committee of the COUNTER Usage Statistics
Project. Her professional interests
include the management of the hybrid library combining electronic and print
resources, library collaboration and service developments to meet the needs of
an increasingly diverse user base, resulting from the University of
Leicester’s highly successful campaign towards widening access to higher
education.
Christine Fyfe commented: “I am delighted to be joining the University of Leicester
at this exciting time. The major
extension to the Library building included in the University’s £300 million
development plan provides a focus for developing our collections and services in
the digital age to meet the needs of a vibrant academic community.”
