The successful candidates will be joining one of the largest and most dynamic Departments of Economics in the UK. The Department has an international reputation for both research and teaching at all levels. All major areas of research are represented.
The Department’s publications profile in recent years is very strong, as most staff are attaining international excellence in terms of publications in leading journals. In the 2001 RAE, the department was rated "5", and in the 2008 RAE, its submission was one of the largest in the country and 100% of its output was classified as Recognised Internationally, with 70% "World leading" or "Internationally Excellent".
Within the Department, there is a thriving research culture, fostered by a friendly atmosphere, and facilitated through three different weekly seminar series and collaborative research amongst staff and PhD students. Research links with the outside academic and policy-making community are wide ranging, both nationally and internationally. There is a high profile external seminar series, with speakers from other UK universities and from European and North American universities.
