sh[OUT]: An evaluation of the Social Justice Programme of the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow (GoMA) 2009-2010

Articulate
September 2008 - August 2009

The National Gallery has commissioned the Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG) to evaluate Articulate 2, their secondary school literacy programme.  Since 2003 the National Gallery has been working with professional authors, poets, scriptwriters, and journalists to develop literacy work with secondary schools from the London boroughs of Hackney, Islington and Brent.  The model has enabled students, teachers, gallery staff and the writers involved to gain new perspectives on how the visual arts can be used to inspire creative, thinking, learning and writing.  During 2008 and 2009, RCMG will explore the impact of the programme on the students from multiple perspectives, including that of the teachers, gallery staff and writers, and place it in a broader national context of learning in museums.
