Catherine currently works part time for Leeds City Council in the Chief Executive's Department where her responsibilities include regional policy issues and involvement in a range of corporate projects. Catherine's main museum interests are in education and communication and management in museums. She completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education by distance learning in 2000.
For twelve years Catherine worked as a principal officer for Kirklees Metropolitan Council, firstly with responsibility for Oakwell Hall Country Park and Red House, and latterly as Museums Manager with a remit for operational management across all the museum sites.
Catherine's first practical experience of museums was working as a volunteer at Norton Priory, Cheshire. After completing a history degree at Cambridge and an M.A in Museum Studies at Leicester, Catherine worked firstly as a social history curator and later as an education officer at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston.
