Why study Italian?
- Studying Italian will enable you to appreciate the culture that produced the Renaissance, Italian cinema, as well as innovative and globally recognisable design, fashion and food!
- At the end of your first year you will attend a three-week language Summer School in Massa Marittima, in Tuscany, where you will live with an Italian family. This study visit is largely financed by the University of Leicester.
- We put great emphasis on language learning and ensure the continuing development of students' different language skills, both spoken and written.
- Our students choose from a wide range of culture studies modules, including film, literature, the visual arts, history and linguistics.
- The Italian Department and the School of Modern Languages pride themselves on their stimulating and convivial atmosphere.
- We have one of the highest completion rates in the country and students’ feedback demonstrates their enjoyment of their course.
- All members of staff are actively involved in scholarly research in fields which include Italian literature, cinema, culture and society
