Improving your information and research skills
Specialist Information Librarians offer information and research skills support in a variety of ways: Individual advice . We can provide guidance on finding information by helping you to decide which sources to use, how to identify keywords and how to limit search results. You can request assistance by email, telephone or fax, or if you are visiting contact us before your visit to see if we can arrange an appointment, during office hours, for a one to one session. Internet tutorials . Our Information Skills Tutorials pages link to web based tutorials that you can use to improve your information searching skills. Our Research and Learning Support pages provide guidance on searching databases, research skills, citing references and compiling bibliographies. Group Sessions We provide sessions in consultation with Academic Departments for those students able to attend at the University for study and research days, residential and summer schools.
