Department of Health - Information for the media, along with the leaflet currently being distributed in England, is currently on the DH homepage. Cross departmental government advice is available from the Directgov homepage. The UK government helpline is 0800 1 513 513.

Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills - Swine flu information for HE and FE institutions.

National Pandemic Flu Service - for patients in England who may have flu. Includes links to information, an online assessment to help you decide if you have flu, and a note of the Swine Flu Information Line (0800 1 513 513) .

American Society for Microbiology - ASM has an information page and has also made some recent research articles available free of charge.

Best Practice (BMJ): Swine influenza - Evidence based summary for clinicians. Free to access.

BMJ Group: Pandemic Flu Updates - free to access. Aimed at doctors and other health professionals, and includes news, research articles, BMJ Learning material, and patient information.

CABI Swine Flu Dashboard - Includes maps, Google search trend information, and free access to CABI's Global Health database of research literature, as well as updates from CDC, WHO and Wikipedia.

Cochrane Reviews of Prevention and Treatment of Influenza
Links to all Cochrane systematic reviews relating to influenza.

DynaMed - DynaMed provides evidence based summaries on health topics. Information on swine flu is free to access, although the rest of DynaMed is available on subscription only (members of the NHS in the UK and members of the University of Leicester are able to access it - contact us for details - members of other institutions should contact their own library for advice).

The GISAID Platform - Initiative designed to make genetic sequence data publically available.

Global Health - This CABI database is currently free to access - it covers public health and may index older material than other databases.

H1N1 Resource Centre - The Lancet
- Free material on diagnosis, epidemiology, preparedness, vaccination, virology and more. Note that the University of Leicester does not subscribe to the Lancet itself through this site (use Leicester e-link to find the Lancet).

H1N1 Influenza Center - New England Journal of Medicine - Online First publications and commentaries from NEJM and material from the archive about previous outbreaks. Appears to be free to access.

Influenza Virus Resource (NCBI) - Genetic sequence data relating to the H1N1 viruses from Texas and California.

PLoS Currents: Influenza is a "moderated collection for rapid and open sharing of useful new scientific data, analyses, and ideas".

Springer - Springer are providing free access to journal articles dealing with H1N1/swine flu. Use the link here and search for the term H1N1.

WebMD - Follow the links from the home page (look in the Cold and Flu Health Center if there are no links directly to the information).

Bloggers who have written about swine flu include David Bradley at Sciencebase, and Alan Cann of this University - 10 things you should know about swine flu, and 10 more things you should know about swine flu. NPR Flu Shots - Swine Flu Outbreak Updates is a blog from the National Public Radio network in the United States. Daniel Hernandez is blogging in Mexico City and is writing about the situation there in his blog Intersections. Tara Smith, professor of epidemiology in Iowa, covers swine flu on her blog Aetiology.
