Club Culture

From spacious conversions of former factories to cosy and kitsch café bars, Leicester’s bars and pubs provide something for every individual. With over two hundred it is difficult to give credit to the range, but here are a few:

The Terrace
– contemporary styled with period detailing, with an upstairs champagne and cocktail bar, serving continental food and live music on a Thursday.
Revolution
– Vodka bar with over 70 different vodkas to choose from.
Dos Hermanos
– located on Queens Road - near to campus and student housing. Winner of the best bar in the Leicester Mercury ‘The Week’ Awards 2003.
Fat Cat Café Bar
– the minimalist feel and extensive menu makes this stylish bar a great place to hang out with friends.
The Charlotte
– one of a number of bars dedicated to rock and indie music and a favourite with students.

For a change from the city centre you may choose to check-out the city’s thriving and growing West End which has a heavy student focus.

Although the Venue at the Students’ Union is one of the biggest and best student clubs in the country, the city’s many clubs are also very popular for big nights out. Life, Original Four and Creation all offer varied and exciting music from rock to chart to dance and cheese. So whether you want the latest dance music, independent artists or prefer to dress up in a seventies wig and flares you will find something in Leicester.

Leicester’s clubland is a vibrant mix of glitzy nightspots and lively alternative venues and there is plenty of fast and furious dancing at all of them.

If you are dedicated to partying you should have a pleasurable choice, because there are probably more venues here than ever before, and the list just keeps on growing. The bigger clubs provide a varied programme of events, drawing crowds from all over the Midlands and performers from all over the world. Smaller clubs like The Underground offer the hottest sounds on the contemporary dance scene in intimate and atmospheric surroundings. Many of the clubs have special nights for enthusiasts of different types of music and ‘student nights’ during the week with reduced prices.

On Friday and Saturday nights the Clock Tower is the hub of the action as crowds stream to the clubs and bars along Church Gate, Silver Street and High Street.
