A History day was held at the Sir John Moore School, Appleby Magna on 31 October 2009.
Talks during the day included the history of the Sir John Moore School, a stunning building by Sir Christopher Wren erected 1697, plus explorations of many historical aspects of ‘education’ in Leicestershire (village schools, framework knitter apprentices, canal boat people, WEA, women’s education, boys reformatory, etc.).
