French economic indicators

The ESFDB requires all colleagues supplying supplying data, or who consult the resulting Database, to undertake to give full and proper acknowledgement (including specific citation) in any resulting scholarly work or publication to the name of the contributing scholar whose files they have used, including the specific filenames (ESFDB dataset name).
\frindic\*.*. French economic indicators compiled for the purposes of calculating the real increase of taxation over time. The most important of these comprise the statistics of French mint output derived from: Miskimin, H. A., Money, prices and foreign exchange in fourteenth-century France (New Haven and London, 1963); Miskimin, H. A., Money and power in fifteenth-century France (New Haven and London, 1984); Spooner, F. C., The international economy and monetary movements in France, 1493-1725 (Cambridge, Mass., 1972); Morineau, M., 'Les frappes monétaires françaises de 1726 à 1793. Premières considérations', in Day, J. (ed.), Études d'histoire monétaire, xii - xix siècles (Lille, 1984), 69-141. There are also statistics on French grain prices drawn from Baulant, M., 'Le prix des grains de 1431 à 1788', Annales E. S. C., 23 (1968), Baulant, M. and Meuvret, J., Prix des céréales extraits de la mercuriale de Paris, 1520-1698 (2 vols., Paris, 1960, 1962) and Labrousse C. E., Le mouvement des prix et des revenus... (Paris, 1933, repr., 1984). There are in addition some figures to convert the livre tournois into silver values drawn from Wailly, N. de, 'Mémoire sur les variations de la livre tournois...', Mémoire de l'Académie des Inscriptions et belles-lettres, 21, pt. 2 (1857), table 3.
