This SPLINT Fellowship will produce a set of teaching materials to introduce postgraduate archaeology students (and other related persons) to the key issues and skills surrounding the use of GIS. The teaching materials will be made available online both for use in taught courses and for self-study. In particular, the course will focus upon a hypothetical archaeological GIS case study, and students will learn how to enter typical archaeological data into the software, how to perform relevant basic spatial analyses and queries, and how to produce maps of good cartographic quality.
