The sensitivity, low-noise performance and external logging system of these instruments makes their installation and operation more complex than the 6TD. A minimum of half a day is required to deploy each instrument but substantially more time is required to produce the highest quality data.

Broadband instruments ship in boxes containing 1 instrument (3T, 3TD or 40TD), 1 data logging system (DCM or Taurus), one power regulator (if required), 1 GPS external antenna and all associated cables. There are two sizes of shipping box available.
Most projects use one or two 36W solar panels per instrument, details of which can be found here. The user must provide 12v batteries. We recommend sealed lead-acid of at least 65Ah capacity.
SEIS-UK is able to offer advice on the appropriate number of solar panels and batteries necessary for your period and latitude of deployment.
In normal circumstances the shipping of instruments is organised by SEIS-UK and paid for by the user. Because of the high demand of broadband instrumentation it is usually necessary to use airfreight. The cost and time for a shipment varies considerably from one destination to another.
