SEIS-UK provides field equipment, computers and software for experiments involving onshore recording of both earthquakes and controlled seismic sources.
The SEIS-UK team provides expertise and training in the use of field equipment and the associated data management systems. A processing system for continuous seismic data is fully supported, including event detection and location. The team ensures that all data from SEIS-UK experiments are archived permanently at the IRIS DMC. A more complete description of SEIS-UK can be found in our Mission Statement.
All equipment is available free-of-charge to academics based in the UK for non-commercial research projects. Commercial loans of the equipment are also available. A single loan application and peer review procedure operates for all GEF equipment.
The next deadline for applications to the Facility is Friday 19th April 2013. Applicants should ensure they have the most current version of our application form available in the Forms section of the GEFE website.
If you are applying to NERC for a research grant that depends on GEF support, it is important to discuss your requirements with us prior to submission of the grant application. It is also important to state on fellowship, studentship and grant application forms what services and facilities you require and who you have contacted at the GEF to discuss your work. Estimated facility costs should be costed into research grants under "Other directly incurred costs". This is not necessary for studentships. Further information available in the NERC Grants Handbook. Please Contact Us with your equipment requirements and we will provide the estimated cost.
