Past Exam Papers

NB GL2030/2031 is a renumbering of GL230/GL231 - a new module started in Autumn 2000. It was formed by merging previous modules GL214/GL358 (Ore Mineralogy) and GL213 (Ore Deposit Studies), so you should look at the past papers for these modules to get an idea of what will be in the GL2030/2031 exam. NB for GL214/GL358 look at both papers in 1999 - no exam was held in 1998.

How to read a (difficult) book

Advice from a Nobel Scientist. This is the advice that Richard Feynman, Nobel physicist and one of the greatest scientists of the 20th century, gave to his kid sister about how to read a college-level astronomy textbook that he had given her for her birthday (she was only 14):
"You start at the beginning and you read as far as you can, until you get lost. Then you start at the beginning again, and you keep working through until you can understand the whole book"
