Hey there; welcome to this collection of British university slang!
This online slang database was created originally in April 2010, during a module in Slang at the University of Leicester, England. The database documents 100 slang terms, which were recorded in use by a group of five female undergraduate students who live together in a shared student house, in Leicester, England.
I hope that this website will:
- Provide a accurate and detailed cross-section of slang terms, which are used by a specific social group within British Slang.
- Be an influential reference for people who may want to study the use of slang terms in the future; particularly for British Slang research.
- Provide an accurate account of how these slang terms were selected and under which circumstances, as well as a clear definition of slang.
- Provide simple, clear instructions about how to use the dictionary, as well as a guide to terminology.
In order to find more information concerning this slang study, please visit the about page.
I hope that you enjoy browsing the dictionary.
WARNING!
In order to maintain the authenticity of this collection of slang terminology, many terms have been included which may be deemed unsuitable for young people or those of a sensitive disposition. It would NOT be advisable for these persons to proceed any further with this website, due to the inclusion of swear words, terms which may be deemed offensive to certain social groups, and words relating to alcohol or sex.
