This glossary is a collection of slang terms used by a group of students at the University of Leicester, in the United Kingdom.  The entries have been collected as a sample of the language used by students aged between and 18 and 22 years.  I am aware that much of the slang is in widespread use and not specific to this age group or geographical location.  However, I am merely aiming to document a sample of slang terms, some of which may have been in use for a number of years, in different areas of the United Kingdom, but are still used today by students at the University.

I hope this dictionary will give you a brief insight into the nature of the language used by university students.

The nature of the material may be considered by some to be offensive, racist or derogatory.  The views expressed here are not necessarily the views of the author.   Please accept my apologies if you are offended, but to omit the terms would not provide an accurate representation of the group studied.

Thank you.
