FLUX SWITCHING MOTORS AND DRIVES A Tutorial

This centre and these projects have mostly moved to the Company Technelec Ltd,[Globe Graphic] that was set up
by Professor Pollock to exploit this technology

The flux switching motor (FSM) is a combination of the switched reluctance motor and the inductor alternator.  The lamination profile is very similar to that of a two phase 4/2 switched reluctance motor, thus allowing its simple construction and inherent robustness, to be retained.  However the windings are pitched across an additional slot, relative to the short pitched switched reluctance winding.  The two phase fully pitched winding arrangement is similar to that used in inductor alternators.
