The English Association - over 100 years at the forefront of English

The Use of English is the longest-standing of journals for English teachers in schools and colleges. Today it performs a vital function in the teaching of the subject, both in Great Britain and abroad.

Vigorous, independent comment on theory, policy and practice has always been its forte. Such comment has never been so necessary as it is at the present time: a time of change, uncertainty and a high level of central intervention in the teaching of English.

The liveliness of The Use of English is not limited to its articles: no other journal for English teachers carries so substantial and extensive a section of reviews - reviews of important books on the teaching of the subject, of literary criticism and of anthologies and editions.
