Hugh Busher - Research Interests

Dr. Hugh Busher is a senior lecturer in the School of Education in the University of Leicester, where he is PostGraduate Tutor. He has had extensive experience of teaching in secondary schools and universities.

Long standing research interests include: constructing equity, values and social justice with students in education; critical perspectives on educational organisations: power and the interaction of policy and community contexts with the internal decision-making of schools; leadership and change processes in educational organisations, especially schools; the constructed identities and professional development of teachers and other staff in schools.

His recent research projects include:

Being and Becoming middle leaders in secondary schools: work related identities, power and decision-making (2002)
Constructing engagement and inclusion in schools in Greater Beirut: with Dr Rima Bahous and Dr Mona Nabhani of the Lebanese American University (2005)
Comparing students’ and teachers’ voices to construct inclusive schooling, with Dr Hilary Cremin. British Academy (2007)
