Aggregate Exams Feedback

Below you can find a ggregate exam feedback for every single module examined in January of the current academic year.

We have provided module marks distribution tables classified by Undergraduate Years 1,2,3 and Postgraduate. We have also provided a distribution of the average module marks in each year. With time we will be able to follow our performance and the pattern followed by our assessment methods.

Please do keep in mind that all marks are provisional until approved by the Examination board in July, and therefore so are averages and marks in a class. We felt it is better to publish this information now, rather than wait to have the final data, as a rough comparison can be carried out, on the assumption that any changes will be marginal.

If you have done your stats homework, you'll know that the distribution of marks will, of course, be different for different modules, for a variety of academic reasons. There is no formal requirement for any module to have a particular distribution: indeed it would be very odd and artificial it it were the case. This information will be available to the members of the Examination Board, and will be considered in its assessment of the examination process. Only the Examination Board can assess single marks and, consequently, overall module distributions.

For this particular batch of modules the distribution looks very "good" to me: approximately normal for the averages, some module with high, some with low average, most with average average. There are enough firsts in all modules (again, not the same proportion, which would indicate some massaging of the marks).
