Leicester Marrowthon 2012 on 17 June
Leicester Marrow-thon, hosted by University of Leicester students, is back this year aiming to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust
Following a hugely successful event last year, Leicester's Marrow Society, in collaboration with Anthony Nolan Trust, once again brings you the Leicester Marrow-thon 2012!
The run is on Sunday the 17th June 2012 in Abbey Park. Race entry fee is £10 and each runner will recieve a running number, certificate and goodie bag! Registration on the day will open at 10:00 AM, and the run will start at 11:00 AM.
For all you running fanatics there's a 10KM course and for those of you who fancy a more relaxed time there is a 5KM course. There are prizes for fastest runners and a special prize for fancy dress. This year’s theme is superhero so get creative!
The run is organized to raise donation, as well as awareness for Anthony Nolan Trust. Our aim is to raise a whopping £10,000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust – and we are hoping that you could raise a minimum of 30 pound for the event (it is not compulsory, but we do really hope that you can help us help them!)
Marrowthon is a voluntary student organisation which helps to arrange donor recruitment clinics in universities, and raises charitable funds to these events. We work alongside Anthony Nolan to help recruit people to the bone marrow register which aims to link potential donors with people who desperately needs a stem cell transplant.
The university of Leicester has been successfully hosting this Marrowthon and various other events over many years.
