Win some great prizes with the Student Welfare Service

Competition for all full time University of Leicester students on 12th and 13th March, main campus

The Student Welfare Service is running a campaign to raise awareness of the service we provide and to promote money management. Look out for our supermarket trolleys around campus for the chance to win some great prizes.

The campaign aims to help students to plan an effective budget for next year or address any financial concerns they may have. In the current economic climate, living on a student income is getting harder and the Student Welfare Service would like to advise students how to prepare for their next year at university well in advance.

The campaign is aimed at all full time students and focuses on how to live more effectively on student loans and grants next year. To encourage students to take part in the campaign there will be a competition – guess the difference in cost between two shopping trolleys of groceries. The list of prizes (which is still growing) includes:

The contents of both trolleys

2 X £10 Odeon Cinema Gift Card

4 X £5 Morrison Supermarket Voucher

4 X £5 Book tokens to be spent at the University Book Shop

Plus some interesting giveaways!

Students will also be invited to contact the Student Welfare Service if they would like some budgeting advice or have any financial concerns.

The event is being run over two days on Main Campus:

Monday 12th & Tuesday 13th March, 11.30 a.m - 2.30 p.m

Just turn up to enter the competition and/or contact the Student Welfare Service for financial advice.

All home (UK) students who are concerned about managing their finances may also wish to look at the UNIAID website to use their student finance calculator: http://www.studentcalculator.org.uk. Students finding themselves in difficulty may also wish to make an appointment to meet with a Welfare Officer for individual advice – contact welfare@le.ac.uk to request an appointment.

The Student Welfare Service is based on the first floor of the Percy Gee Building and is open for appointments between 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. For further information, or to make an appointment, call in or email welfare@le.ac.uk.
