Retirement in Cell Physiology and Pharmacology

Alan Willcocks to retire after 35 years of service

Mr Alan Willcocks, Departmental Services Manager will be retiring on Friday 29th July, 2011 after 35 years at the University of Leicester.

Alan was appointed in May 1976 as a Technician, working with Professor, Sir Robert Kilpatrick and Professor Stefan Nahorski in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He subsequently became Departmental Superintendent and has served as Departmental Services Manager since the merger with the Department of Physiology in 1993.

Alan sits on a number of University committees and has been involved with many joint ventures/pilot schemes around the University. He is also a Senior Workplace Representative of the local UNITE branch and through this work and his many years of service, he has come into contact with numerous staff who may wish to say goodbye to Alan, so this note is being widely distributed to all Colleges and Administrative Departments. We hope that readers will pass on the note to any staff who have worked with Alan and might wish to say their farewells. Contact Lyn McCarthy (lm18@le.ac.uk) if you wish to pass a farewell message on to Alan.

Alan has requested a low-key retirement, and therefore we will not be holding a leaving reception.
