University of Leicester hosts Doug Richard, entrepreneur and original BBC2 Dragon, for special business masterclass on Monday 10 May 2010

Doug Richard’s School for Start-ups team will be holding their highly esteemed ‘Start Here! Starting and Growing a Successful Business’ masterclass at the University of Leicester on Monday 10 May.
Students, staff and budding entrepreneurs are all invited to the University to participate in this one-off event. Tips and advice will be offered about on how to develop business skills by one of the country’s most experienced entrepreneurs.
Doug Richard will be delivering an interactive seminar, incorporating ‘live’ on the day delegate case studies, video examples, lectures, and Q&A sessions. He will provide an insightful introduction to how to succeed in business and address the essential questions that entrepreneurs should ask themselves before investing time and money into an idea.
The event has been organised by the University of Leicester’s Student Enterprise team and the newly formed Enterprise Society.
Enterprise Learning Officer, Rajinder Bhuhi, said:
“Doug will provide an insightful introduction on how to succeed in business and address the essential questions that entrepreneurs should ask themselves before investing time and money into an idea: Who are my customers? What makes my proposition attractive? Do I have a sustainable competitive advantage? Doug is an entertaining host who will leave people feeling inspired, refuelled and buzzing with new ideas!”
Suleman Sacranie, who is Director of ZS Media Tech and a University of Leicester student who appeared on Dragon’s Den, commented:
"We are privileged to be hosting a great opportunity for student enterprise and entrepreneurs in Leicester and the region. This is the start of a range of events and opportunities that we want to develop for students to get involved with.”
The workshop event takes place on the 10th May 2010 from 1pm to 7pm in the Fielding Johnson New Lecture Theatre at the University of Leicester.
