Amber means go!

University staff member tackles the Leicester half-marathon

Amber Cuttill, from the Development and Alumni Relations office in the Division of Marketing, Communications and Planning, has decided to run (or more likely limp) the Leicester half marathon on the 10th October.

She decided at rather late notice that this would be a cracking idea, and has had a grand total of five weeks to raise her running levels from nothing to half marathon standard. In order to motivate her, and because it’s a worthwhile cause, she’s asking for sponsorship in order to raise as much money as possible for MIS Orphanage, Lesotho, Africa.

Amber’s sister lives in Lesotho and has spent the last 3 years volunteering in the orphanage - and frankly they need some money! Amber said: “They’re really struggling at the moment to find enough funds to send the children there to school - and seeing as we all work at a University, we all know how important education is. They also need funds for food, school books, clothes etc, so if you could help in any way it would be very much appreciated."

There are around 100 children at the orphanage aged from babies right through to 18. Amber herself visited last year and can really promise that it’s worth any help you can give. Alternatively, if you would like to sponsor her merely to alleviate some of the pain that running 13 miles is going to put her through, that’s fine as well! And if you fancy going along on the 10th to support then that would be great too! The run starts and ends in Victoria Park, and sets off at 9.15am.

Sponsoring Amber is very easy to do, please just go to her justgiving site: http://www.justgiving.com/Amber-Cuttill
