Annual Creative Writing Lecture

The Annual Creative Writing Lecture (ACWL) was inaugurated by the School of English in 2011 with the celebrated Booker Prize-winning novelist Ben Okri, OBE, FRSL. Over 200 people attended the event from the University and the wider community. The University of Leicester is very pleased that Santander has chosen to extend its agreement with the University to support this innovative trans-cultural lecture series.

The ACWL serves as a centrepiece for the growing subject of Creative Writing at the University of Leicester, and focuses on practice, technique and philosophy of creative writing. Our Creative Writing initiatives enhance the already formidable reputation of the School of English, a UK top ten research department, as evidenced by the 2011 Times league table.

The 2012 Lecture will be held in October 2012, and feature a writer from a Latin background. With the huge success of the first event, this unique series can bring world-renowned writers from the global writing community to speak in multicultural Leicester.

In addition to supporting the University with this initiative, Santander also has a university branch located in the Student Union Building. As you may have seen in the press, the bank has just launched a completely new range of products and Branch Manager, Dominic Tomlin, would like to welcome students and staff to find out more about them.

To find out more please visit the branch to speak to Dominic, email the branch at Dominic.Tomlin@Santander.co.uk or call extension 05511482160.
