New Staff Website
A new portal for University of Leicester staff has been launched at www.le.ac.uk/staff . This site is designed to provide staff with handy, direct links to parts of the UoL site that are popular and/or important. In the first instance the site will be accessible from the existing eBulletin page.
The Staff site has three main sections:
- ‘Strategy, Policy and Organisation’ brings together important information about codes of practice, the work of committees, the University’s strategic vision and provides other links/information about how the University operates.
- ‘Working at Leicester' provides useful day-to-day information and links to help you both professionally and personally: for example information about campus facilities, health, training, parking, research support, teaching support etc. This section also has a ‘How do I…?’ page with answers to commonly asked questions.
- ‘Community Area’ has a section for ‘small ads’ where staff can advertise, to 3,500 colleagues, items wanted, for sale or offered for free. This section also has details of staff clubs and societies.
The site will be used to disseminate key policy announcements and information important to colleagues’ roles. By doing this, it will hopefully reduce the amount of email, posters and paper memos people receive on general issues. Because the site will play an important role in internal communications it is proposed that the homepage for staff is re-set to this page in the New Year. This means that if you have changed your homepage it will be re-set to this new site in the future. This new site has been developed through a process of consultation with a wide range of staff across the University. But like all good websites, it will continue to evolve in response to the needs of its audience. Feedback on the site is positively encouraged, for example; are there any other links which should be included? Can you find what you are looking for? This is the fifth site (of seven) in the University’s Corporate Website Redevelopment Project. Equivalent sites for Students and News and Events will be launched early next year.
