Dreamweaver and FrontPage tutorials

UPDATE: Since we moved to the Plone CMS we are no longer actively maintaining this information but some of it may still be relevant.

At the beginning of 2005, the decision was taken to make the Web design software package Macromedia Dreamweaver 2004 MX an installable option via the CFS. This was prompted by the increasing difficulty Microsoft Frontpage produced sites were finding meeting strict Web related standards for Accessibility, HTML/XHTML validity, and use of Cascading Style Sheets.

The LTS Web team have been slowly attempting to encourage and support the migration of Web site builders/maintainers from Frontpage to Dreamweaver. These moves have been largely successful - but as with any changeover period it will take time to get everyone using Dreamweaver. For the foreseeable future the use of Frontpage will remain supported by the Web team but it's use for Web site building and page maintenance will be discouraged in favour of Dreamweaver.

The tutorials/guides in this section show you how to do a number of basic Web building tasks in, firstly, Dreamweaver, then Frontpage 2003 and then Frontpage 2000. The tutorials are also designed to facilitate comparisons across the three Web packages - which should hopefully dispel some of the myths about Dreamweaver's complexity relative to FrontPage.
