Student Support and Guidance Sub-Committee

Terms of Reference

The Sub-Committee will be responsible to the Learning and Teaching Committee for:

i. oversight of the University's central provision of student support and guidance;
ii. developing or revising for the consideration of the Learning and Teaching Committee notes of guidance for dissemination to students and staff on support and guidance issues;
iii. maintaining an oversight on behalf of the Learning and Teaching Committee of national developments in the area of student support and guidance, including student support funding, and advising the Committee (and other bodies as appropriate) on their implications for the University;
iv. scrutiny (or establishment as appropriate) of procedures for the local implementation of national developments (eg Access Funds).

Membership

a) The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Learning and Teaching (Chair)
b) An academic staff representative from each Faculty
c) The Vice-President (Education) of the Students' Union
d) The Vice-President (Welfare) of the Students' Union
e) A postgraduate student representative
f) The Director of EDSC
g) The Co-ordinating Chaplain
h) The Director of Catering and Residential Services
i) The Director of the Language Services Unit
j) A representative from the Health Centre

Duration of appointment:

(a), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h), (i), and (j) ex officio

Members appointed under (b) shall service for three years and be eligible for re-election.
