I joined the fluorine group at an exciting time in January 1996 when we were just starting to work on Fluorous Biphase catalysis. Following a three year post-doc I was awarded a fellowship by the Lloyds Tercentenary Foundation, which has enabled me to start my own independent research into expanding the Fluorous Biphase approach to new applications in organic synthesis.
Outside the lab, I spend most of my time doing various sporting activities. I play Hockey for a local mixed Hockey Club, competing regularly in the Leicestershire League. I also play squash (badly) and enjoy going to the gym, swimming or running, when time allows!
However I am at my happiest when I am skiing in glorious sunshine in the French Alps, or alternatively, just enjoying the good food and French wine in one of the mountain restaurants!
