Eric Hope

Having gained my degrees from the University of Southampton, I moved to Leicester in 1987 initially as an SERC NATO, then an SERC Advanced Fellow and, for the past five years, as a Royal Society University Research Fellow; when my current contract finishes in 2003 I become a full-time member of the department's staff. My arrival in Leicester coincided with John Holloway's appointment as Head of Department and we have managed the group together for the last twelve years. Our research interests are many and varied and detailed on a separate page.

I am married (to Liz), have two children (Michael 6 and Julia 2) and have just moved to a new house in a small Warwickshire village. Consequently, my "spare" time is divided between making sure the kids don't destroy the house (or each other), furniture/soft furnishing hunting and DIY. With a young family, my leisure pursuits have been suspended but, when time allows, I still enjoy fine wine, good food, travel and the conversation of friends.
