David Gudmunsen

Having graduated from Leicester University in 1996 with a B.Sc. (Hons) in chemistry I decided to join the Fluorine group to do a PhD under the supervision of Dr Eric Hope. My PhD study involves the synthesis and co-ordination chemistry of perfluoroalkyl chain derivatised phosphorous (III) ligands and their applications in fluorous phase catalysis. I am currently at the end of my third year and have just begun writing up my thesis.

My interests outside of the laboratory include listening to music, attending the theatre and cinema, socialising with friends and history, both modern and ancient. I am also a keen footballer, playing in the chemistry department's five-a-side team which won last year's post graduate league.
