ANalysis Of VAriance (ANOVA or ANOVAR).. Parametric statistical comparison test for two or more data sets
Central tendency..
Correlation (also relationship or trend).. A relationship between two or more factors
Data set.. All data pertaining to experiment or survey
Datum point.. Single measured value (plural: data)
Kruskal-Wallis.. Non-parametric equivalent of ANOVA
Kurtosis..
Leptokurtic.
Measurement.. value of reading taken of a phenomenon
n.. Number of data points in a sample
N.. sum of n from two or more samples
Negative skew..
Normal distribution..
Normaility.. Pertaining to normality
Ordinal..
Platykurtic..
Positive skew..
Probability..
Regression.. Statistical method for predicting unknown values of one correlation variable with another. Parametric and non-parametric equivalents are available.
Replication.. Multiplication of samples from a site or experiment to avoid chance events, i.e. five vessels per concentration of toxin or drug
Sample.. Measurements from one site or treatment in experiment
Skew.. Relates to the symmetry of a distribution that displays central tendency (see negative and positive skew).
