Jaideep Mukherjee
Research Associate in E-learning
- Jaideep Mukherjee's main research interest is in the area of adapting existing and emergent Web 2.0 technologies for application in educational contexts, especially those that can be deployed on a low-cost, high-impact basis. Jaideep possesses wide experience in research project management and finance, as well as expertise in developing research projects and funding opportunities with public and private sector organisations.
- Jaideep has led benchmarking projects and institutional audits focussing on e-learning at the University of Leicester, as well as supporting other higher educational institutions in these areas. He supports all of Beyond Distance’s research and outreach projects, viz. IMPALA, ADELIE, ADDER, WoLF, CHEETAH, ELKS and SEAL, as Project Manager, alongside working closely with colleagues in developing the postgraduate programme in 'Learning Futures'.
- Earlier, Jaideep worked as a Research Associate and lectured at the Department of Media and Communications at Leicester (2001-2005). He was a researcher on the DfES-funded 'Teachers Status Project', conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Education - University of Cambridge, and taught on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Leicester.
- Jaideep holds masters' degrees in Politics and International Relations (JNU, 1994) and Mass Communications (Leicester, 2001) and is writing his doctoral dissertation on 'constructions of multiculturalism in UK quality newspapers'.
He spent the initial part of his career (1994-2000) in India and the UK, working as a researcher and content creator, on a range of factual television programmes and online content for media international organisations like BBC Worldwide, STAR Television Asia and Pearson Television.
- Jaideep is a keen cricketer, and lists travel and photography among his interests.
