Dr Alejandro Armellini

Senior Learning Designer

Dr Armellini has been working in Higher Education in the UK and overseas for over ten years. His work has involved distance, face to face and blended learning scenarios, academic staff development and CPD. In particular, he has focused on the reflective adoption of new technologies in learning, teaching, assessment and research.

He has extensive teaching experience in a range of contexts, including the development of MA-level course units for blended and distance settings. With teams, he has made extensive use of virtual learning environments (Blackboard, WebCT and Moodle in particular) and a variety of synchronous and asynchronous technologies as part of on and off-site programmes. Developments for distance provision have always informed my on-campus practice. Over the years, his MA and PhD tutees have researched various areas in the field of educational technology, teacher education and language teaching.

Dr Armellini's research interests include online pedagogy, course design in online environments, uses of computer-mediated communication in learning and teaching and teacher networks. He is very interested in course design for e-learning and the uses of desk-top videoconferencing tools as part of the blend.
