This day provided opportunities to showcase current plans in e-learning research and seek support, collaboration and ideas - and network with others working in the field. Following the successful launch of this approach last year, participants were invited to submit any short outlines of their research plans in advance and engage with potential collaborators. Gilly Salmon and the BDRA team were available for a research surgery on collaboration and funding opportunities.
The joint chairs will be Professor David Hawkridge, Emeritus Professor, the Open University and Lee Taylor, Senior Associate, BDRA, University of Leicester.
- IMPALA, the Higher Education Academy project (Informal Mobile Podcasting And Learning Adaptation). IMPALA investigates the impact of Podcasting on student learning and how the beneficial effects can positively be enhanced- led by Dr Palitha Edirisingha, Lecturer in e-Learning, University of Leicester
- ADELIE- this project: Advanced Design for e-learning - Institutional Embedding, seeks to make a major change to the quality of student learning through e-, m- and blended learning across a wide range of disciplines and modes, to foster change, development and capability building, and to provide transferable models for the wider HE e-learning community. The workshop will be led by the ADELIE team at the University of Leicester
- PROWE- the JISC funded Leicester/OU project exploring the ways in which wiki and wiki-type environments be useful and usable as personal and informal repositories to support professional development within part-time tutor communities of practice, led by Roger Dence, Consultant, BDRA, University of Leicester
- The Leicester CETLs: sharing experience - Dr Annette Cashmore, Dr Nick Tate and Dr Derek Raine (University of Leicester)
- 'Podcasts and wikis and blogs, Oh my! Online Learning is not in Kansas anymore - types of online courseware systems and pedagogic strategies that are needed today' led by Professor Curt Bonk, Professor of Educational Psychology, Indiana University
- E-learning and academics - E-learning and academics, led by Professor David Hawkridge, Emeritus Professor, the Open University
- Methodologies for on-line research, led by Taiga Brahm, University of St Gallen, Switzerland
- The Digital Culture and Pedo-Socio Transformation - Dr Kristin Snyder
