Research Dragons

Research DragonsThe idea for research dragons is based on the BBC TV ‘Dragons Den www.bbc.co.uk/dragonsden/

The purpose is to offer people considering applying for research funding a way of getting informed feedback on their proposals from people used to evaluating research proposals. It’s meant to be fun and informal but with useful learning for all too.

Please note there is no actual funding available on the table. However, we expect you’ll get valuable feedback from the Dragons and might find partners and supporters in the audience.

The Dragon’s Den session will take place during Tuesday evening’s (8 th January) informal dinner.

Research Aspirants
  1. You will have 5 minutes to make your ‘pitch’ to the dragon
  2. Your should include the following (roughly 1 minute each)
    a) Key Context for the proposal
    b) Research Question (s)
    c) Approach to research (e.g. methods, respondents)
    d)Likely outcomes, dissemination, deliverables, beneficiaries
    e) Clear indication of Funding and resources required
  3. Be prepared to answer questions, especially to support the ‘business plan’
If you’d like to take part- please send an outline of your proposal under the above 5 headings to Gilly.Salmon@le.ac.uk by return. We will let you know quickly whether your proposal has been selected.
